At our department, we offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Currently, these programs are conducted only in Czech. However, for international students, we offer the opportunity to study anthropology in English through three courses that can be chosen as part of studies in other departments.<\/p>\n

This course\u00a0 Anthropology of Central and Eastern Europe (KSA\/1ACEU)<\/span><\/a> is designed for international students and covers a range of contemporary anthropological topics related to the Central and Eastern European region (including the Balkans). Students will choose one of the topics offered according to their interest and expertise. The course offers both a basic overview of the cultural, linguistic, ethnic, etc., specificities of the region, as well as a demonstration of how contemporary anthropological perspectives can be applied to the region. The course covers topics such as ethnicity, kinship, multiculturalism, social exclusion, the anthropology of Roma\/Chicans, and transition and post-socialism.<\/p>\n

The aim of the course Social and cultural Anthropology (KSA\/1KSA)<\/a> is to acquaint students with the basic concepts, ideas, and theories of social and cultural anthropology, introduce them to the work of significant anthropologists, present key anthropological publications, and provide examples of anthropological research in different types of societies. The course will cover anthropological theories of culture and related conceptual frameworks, and address the issues of anthropological fieldwork. Building on the theories of culture and society, the course will introduce key areas of classical anthropological study, such as kinship, economic, political, and religious systems, as well as the relationship between language and culture. In addition to classical topics and approaches, the course will outline the possibilities for anthropological study of modern complex societies. Throughout the course, selected ethnographic and historical examples, related publications, and prominent scholars will be presented.<\/p>\n
